This partnership reinforces both companies' commitment to strengthening the UK's nuclear supply chain, a crucial element in supporting the nation's ambition to expand its nuclear energy capacity.
William Cook Cast Products is a leading manufacturer of safety-critical castings for nuclear applications, holding the ISO 19443 nuclear quality management accreditation and working towards certification as an American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Nuclear Material Organization. The company supplies components across Tier 1 and lower-tier suppliers and plays a key role in the UK and international nuclear new build projects.
“We are proud to work with Westinghouse on this strategic initiative,” said William Cook, Group Commercial Director. “This MoU highlights the trust that major nuclear technology providers place in our capabilities. Our £10 million investment over the past five years in state-of-the-art equipment, including a new radiography centre, additional machining centres, and an expanded ISO 17025-certified metallurgy laboratory, positions us strongly to meet the growing demand for safety-critical components across the sector.”
Westinghouse is the developer of the AP1000 the only operating advanced Generation III+ reactor with fully passive safety systems, modular construction design and the smallest footprint per MWe on the market. The AP300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) is a scaled-down version of the AP1000, designed as an ultra-compact, modular unit that leverages the innovation and operational experience of the global AP1000 fleet.
